Trafficking of Nanomaterials
Uptake, intracellular trafficking, and exocytosis are processes that affect cytotoxicity, cell behavior, and the therapeutic efficacy of nanomaterials.
With nanomedicines on the rise it is crucial to understand the interactions between nanomaterials and biological systems. Many studies focus on the in vivo biokinetics and biodistribution of nanomaterials to determine the potential long term effects presented by the material and its accumulation inside cells. This project focuses on the fate of biopersistent nanoparticles (e.g. trafficking from endosomes to lysosomes, dissolution, exocytosis and dilution during cell division).
