Mixing metallic nanoparticles with organic compounds such as polymers or surfactants leads to a new hybrid nanomaterial that combines the properties of the two components. This project aims to synthesise polymer and lipid based hybrid nanoparticles to study the nanoparticle-cell membrane interactions and hence understand their impact on cellular uptake. Furthermore, the project also focuses on the fabrication of mechanically adaptable functional fibers which are biologically instructive to enable cells to differentiate or facilitate their migration.
