Institute expands its scope
The Adolphe Merkle Institute is seeking to create a fifth major group in Food Science and Technology with the support of the University of Fribourg and canton Fribourg. The search for a new professor has begun.
Funding from the canton was recently approved by the local parliament, confirming the decision to create the fifth AMI chair alongside the BioNanomaterials, BioPhysics, Polymer Chemistry and Materials, and Soft Matter Physics groups. The new chair is also integrated into the canton’s strategy to become a major hub for food science, alongside the newly formed interfaculty Food Research and Innovation Centre at the University.
The selected candidate must have an outstanding record of successful independent research in food science and technology, as well as a proven track record of translation and collaboration with the food industry. The appointee should develop an internationally recognized research program that is supported by a significant level of external funding. Close collaborations with the other groups of the AMI and units of the University are expected, with the potential for integrating the candidate within the Institute considered an important selection criterion.
