Luis Olaechea is currently a PhD student in Prof. Christoph Weder's research group in the Adolphe Merkle Institute at the University of Fribourg, Switzerland.

Luis graduated from the University of Fribourg with a Bachelor and a Master of Science degree in Chemistry. He did his Master thesis under the supervision of Prof. Christoph Weder at the Adolphe Merkle Institute. Funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation, his project focuses on the preparation of stimuli-responsive metallosupramolecular materials in which the in-situ formation of metallic nanoparticles can be achieved by a defined stimulus such as heat or irradiation. Such materials are interesting candidates for electronics, optics, or catalysis.
