Self-Assembled Nanoparticles
Enhancement of applicability, versatility and physicochemical properties of nanoparticles through their self-assembly.
This project focuses on the combination of superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles (SPIONs) with thermoresponsive liposomes by incorporating them directly in the vesicle bilayer via self-assembly. These materials are biocompatible and tuned to develop heat in an alternating magnetic field. The application of heat facilitates controlled and localised release of the liposomal cargo (e.g. anticancer drug). By using common medical equipment we hope to facilitate the transition from bench to bedside.
