Davide completed his Bachelor degree at the University of Bologna in Chemistry and Materials Chemistry. In the group of Prof. Andrea Bottoni and Prof. Matteo Calvaresi, Davide investigated at computational level the mechanistic behavior of the Diels-Alder reaction inside and on the surface of carbon nanotubes.
For the MSc, Davide shifted his studies on organic chemistry and catalysis, joining the research group of Prof. Claudio Trombini, Marco Lombardo and Arianna Quintavalla, continuing his career at the University of Bologna. Thanks to a collaboration between the Italian research group and that of Prof. Roger Marti, Davide was able to do the final project abroad, at the Haute Ecole d'Ingénierie et d'Architecture of Fribourg, Switzerland. The project was focused on a scale-up of a free-radical [2 + 2 + 2] annulation for the synthesis of endoperoxides, precursors of anti-malarial and anti-leishmanial agents.
Davide started his PhD in May 2021 in the Polymer Chemistry and Materials group of Prof. Christoph Weder, where he is currently working on light-responsive upconverting polymers.
