National honor


Adolphe Merkle Institute director and chair of Polymer Chemistry & Materials, Professor Christoph Weder, has been named as an individual member of the Swiss Academy of Engineering Sciences (SATW). Weder has been recognized for his pioneering work in the development of new nanomaterials that bridge fundamental research and practical applications, as well as for his contribution to the development of AMI.

The SATW has more than 300 individual members and 50 member organizations. Individual members, who are appointed for life, are outstanding experts from the fields of education, research, commerce and industry and politics. Politically independent and non-profit, the academy develops recommendations for action on technical topics that are particularly important for Switzerland as a living environment as well as a workplace and research environment.
