Mehdi Jorfi received his M.S. in Materials Chemistry from Shahid Chamran University of Ahvaz, Iran, in 2008. He then moved to Switzerland, where he is currently a PhD student in Prof. Christoph Weder’s group at the Adolphe Merkle Institute.
His PhD work focuses on the development and investigation of bioresponsive polymeric materials for a broad range of central nervous system applications. More specifically, he has designed various "adaptive" materials for neural interfaces, including polymeric materials capable of delivering various drug molecules directly into the brain.
His current research interests are at the interface between biomaterials, polymers and bioengineering. It lies in the area of biomedical materials, drug delivery, nanomaterials, biologically-inspired materials, and polymer nanocomposites.
