Jean-François was born and raised in Tours (France), where he studied Physical Chemistry until he graduated with a Master's degree in Materials sciences in 2006. He moved to Bordeaux (France) for a PhD on colloidal synthesis for the elaboration of photonic crystals with Pr. Serge Ravaine (Paul Pascal Research Center, University of Bordeaux 1). In December 2009, he received the PhD degree with a thesis entitled “Fluorescence properties of emitters incorporated within colloidal photonic crystals with controlled architecture”. Then, he moved to AMI with Pr. Peter Schurtenberger as a postdoctoral researcher in the field of thermosensitive hybrid particles for photonic crystals. In January 2011, Jean-François joined Pr. Frank Scheffold’s group to elaborate photonic crystals via the infiltration of 3D polymer structures by Atomic Layer Depostion or Chemical Vapor Deposition. In October 2012, he joined AMI in Prof. Alke Fink and Prof. Barbara Rothen-Rutishauser group as a senior postdoctoral researcher.
At AMI he is working on the synthesis and functionalization of colloidal particles for biological applications.
