Gina L. Fiore is a Group Leader in Polymer Chemistry and Materials at the Adolphe Merkle Institute of the University of Fribourg (Switzerland).
Gina studied Molecular Biology at West Chester University of Pennsylvania (USA) and then went on to receive a PhD in Chemistry from the University of Virginia with Prof. C.L. Fraser. Gina then worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow with Prof. Marc A. Hillmyer at the University of Minnesota. At the Adolphe Merkle Institute, Gina supervises and directs a team of researchers on the design, synthesis and characterization of functional polymers.
Gina’s research interests mainly focus on metal-containing and supramolecular polymers that can be formulated as self-healing materials, debond-on-command adhesives, and even as nanoparticles with built-in optical probes for drug delivery and cell imaging applications.
Further details can be found in her CV.
