AMI Alumni, Macromolecular Chemistry
During 2013

Elisa Nogueira was born in Migennes (France), and grew up in Barcelos (city of the famous legend of the lucky rooster), close to Porto (Portugal). After two years at the Instituto Politécnico de Tomar studying Environmental and Chemical Engineering, she moved to the Universidade do Minho in Braga from which she graduated, in 2004, with a Bachelor of Science in Bioengineering (major in Food and Chemical Technologies. After working as a quality consultant and auditor, she began an MSc at the Conway Institute, University College Dublin (Ireland). Soon after graduating in Biochemistry in 2008, Elisa began her PhD at the University of Basel, investigating the creation of novel artificial metalloenzymes for industrially relevant enantioselective reactions. Still located at the Uni Basel, she is now a member of Prof. Nico Bruns’ Macromolecular Chemistry Group and is researching the genetic and process optimization of thermosome for its application in drug delivery.
