Kinnear Calum

AMI Alumni, BioNanomaterials
From 2011 to 2015

Calum was born in Brighton, before moving to Scotland at an early age. He enrolled at the University of Edinburgh in 2005 to study Chemical Physics and graduated in mid-2010 with a Master's degree, specializing in “Atomic Force Microscopy of polymer microarrays: combined experimental and simulated studies”. During his studies he spent a year working for Procter & Gamble in the field of liquid detergents, stimulating an interest in colloidal science that naturally led to the investigation of nanomaterials and 'squishy' physics.

At AMI, he is a PhD student investigating the factors which influence the nanoparticle-cell interaction with a key focus on the surface chemistry and shape of synthesized nanoparticles.
